Other holiday favorites
Join us before the concert in Grace Church’s Parish Hall at 4:30 p.m. for our Candy Cane Concert, where students from Northern Virginia Preludio Strings will perform holiday favorites. Enjoy a sweet treat and the joy of music with some talented young musicians!

As a flutist, composer, and educator, CARRIE ROSE’s diverse musical pursuits include wailing out avant-garde music, unfurling luscious classics with orchestras, grooving for folk dances, and playing while hanging from tree branches. Rose's Breathing In Nature concerts, posted on YouTube, are full-length flute & video concerts in nature: She plays in streams, meadows, flower gardens and up in a tree, in the afternoon, at dawn, and in the moonlight. Performances include compositions by Rose and other contemporary and classical composers. Check out her website below for links. She also combines nature film (butterflies, quivering leaves) and sounds (owls, water) at concerts in parks and concert halls. Most recent appearances have included Adkins Arboretum, Patuxent Research Refuge, and Cunningham Falls State Park. Rose produces the Origins Concert Series (a hub for adventurous music-seekers) in Silver Spring, Maryland and she also performs radical operas with the IN Series company. Her compositions have been featured at the University of DC, Dupont Underground, University of Maryland Baltimore County, and Strathmore Mansion, and in DC’s City Paper she was named a “favorite local composer”. Throughout the country, Rose plays for English Country Dances, Contra Dances, Waltz afternoons, and Scottish Country Dances, and even inspired feet to move on St Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands. Rose is an enthusiastic private flute teacher in Takoma Park, Maryland and co-directs Flute-a-rama Summer Camps. http://www.rosearts.org
